Ever Thought About These Green Ideas?
1) I know we live in a fast ‘right now’ world, especially when it comes to food. But cooking with a slow cooker, solar, or toaster oven reduces electrical use from kitchen appliances. It is worth the wait considering that our planet will still be in tack for our grandchildren if we put in the work now. 2) This is my favorite tip: switching from a desktop computer to a laptop. I just purchased a new notebook and I am cutting three-quarters off my electrical use. I also make sure to turn it off at the end of the day. 3) I switched over to cold water washing a few years ago mainly to avoid shrinking my clothes and have been saving 80 percent on energy used for laundry. This estimates to an estimated savings of $60 a year. I also hang dry most of my clothes instead of using the dryer and save 700 pounds of C02 a year! 4) I know it is the rainy and cold season, but did you know that each degree you turn down the heat saves 3 percent of heating costs, while in the summer, each degree you raise the temperature of your air conditioner saves 3-4 percent of cooling costs? By changing the temperature by 2 degrees all year, you can save about 2,000 pounds of C02 a year. And for those of you who are whining about cutting down the heat, try clothes!!!LOL!
